Sideboard

Here are some pictures of the sideboard construction. Most cabinets are pretty straight forward construction wise, no real adventures along the way. It's all formula. Throwing curves in them obviously complicates things and my life has enough complications right now.

The partitions and backs are doweled to the bottom shelf and aligned vertically with splines.

The back panels will have a shadow line detail along the top and bottom as will the side panels. This is for a reason I will explain in an upcoming post were I can demonstrate it visually.

This veneer is very nice and after just two coats, the chocolate tone is making me salivate. And dare I say, feel a little aroused?

Wow that's some thick back side! heh.
Bravo on making (from what I can tell) some sleek looking legs that probably didn't take a ton of time. Looking forward to more!

Yeah the backs are that thick because I was going to line the inside of the cabinet with a lighter wood. The integrated walnut legs would be visible from the inside if I did not build up the substraights. In the end I opted for a walnut interior because of finishing issues and that of lining up where the lighter wood and walnut met.
I actually don't mind taking time with shaping things like legs as it is my favourite part of building but the clean simple shapes of these suit this piece I feel.

Word. I hear you on shaping, of course heh. I'm sure they will be a great fit for the piece. There is a satisfaction in those thoughts and conclusions I find.
Whatever the case I'm still eager to see! Take a compliment ha.

Oh I totally did, thank you! Sorry I was just explaining the reasoning behind the choice as I didn't in the post. Your night stands look incredible. They totally appeal to the minimalist in me.
